Community involvement

Involvement through actions related to social responsibility is critical for AROBS. The company developed many initiatives toward playing a role in the general wellbeing of the communities by investing in education, health, and healthy lifestyle, ecology, open communication, and community involvement. AROBS was created in 1998, under the long-time societal interest of keeping the valuable professionals in Romania by offering exciting and well-paid jobs for the IT professionals. Voicu Oprean, the founder & CEO of the company, launched AROBS Transilvania Software at a turning point in his career. He had to choose between emigrating or staying in Romania and building an IT company.

• We use stone paper agendas each year, instead of offset paper, and in 2021, we had our first recycled PETs covers for our agendas

• At events, we share green apples as promotional materials, instead of non-recyclable items

• Workshops for learning how to use recyclable materials

• Fight for Your Green Cause 2021, an internal contest for green causes ambassadorship.

Fight For Your Cause

AROBS launched, in 2019, the Fight For Your Cause program. It served as a platform for AROBS colleagues to get directly involved in the local or national community. The company staked three prices to be given to NGOs only, while the colleagues selected an NGO to which they have become ambassadors. This motivated long-term engagement between our people and the chosen causes. Hence, the company created the framework. Our colleagues made the decisions  — bottom up.
• Even though this was just the pilot edition of the campaign, more than 30% of the total employees got engaged. This is expected to grow by at least 20% for further editions.
• Besides the campaign's success per se, side-initiatives started to grow wings, and other groups of employees started their fundraising projects.
• Transformation won't happen overnight, but initiatives of this sort gradually become values to a mindset, thus shaping the business model.
• FFYC returned in 2021 with its Green edition, after which three ecology and nature-involved NGOs won financing for exciting projects to be implemented in 2022.
